Open for business: A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lawncrest Community Action Center on Dec. 17 celebrated the center’s opening.
Lawncrest residents who have questions about the law and city services don’t have to go far to get some answers.
The Lawncrest Community Action Center, staffed by City Councilwoman Marian Tasco’s office and the District Attorney’s office, opened for business last Wednesday in a double-wide Recreation Department trailer at 6000 Rising Sun Ave.
Members of the DA’s Northeast division will be there as will Kathy Wersinger, a Tasco aide, to provide assistance with city services so residents don’t have to go downtown.
“We finally got here,” Tasco told a small crowd of well-wishers at a ribbon-cutting on Dec. 17. “Government is very slow.”
DA Seth Williams said he has 14 prosecutors working in the Northeast. Some of them were at last week’s ribbon-cutting, including the Northeast chief, Jacqueline Coelho.
City Councilman Dennis O’Brien was at the event as was Bill Dolbow, Democratic leader of the 35th Ward and president of the Lawncrest Community Association. ••
